A single, shimmering tear escaped, tracing a path down her proud cheek. She opened the clasp of the precious handbag, removed a folded map, and gently placed it in his hand. It was her answer. A love that could not be, surrendered in the space between heartbeats, held within the silent, beautiful clutch.
